Hardmax is an independent software consultancy registered in Norway. It is one person: me, Jakob Malmo. I build and ship production software: mobile apps, full-stack web platforms and AI-enabled products, owned end to end from architecture through implementation to release.

The practice is deliberately small: no handoffs, no account managers, no junior team behind the curtain. The person you talk to is the person who does the work.

Before Hardmax: years in the public sector, in the military and police, doing analysis work and building software. That shaped how I work. Requirements are claims to verify, not instructions to execute. Decisions get written down. Failure modes are taken seriously, because systems that matter fail in ways that matter.

The track record is concrete: a marketplace app taken from zero to production on iOS and Android in four months, reaching #1 in its App Store category at launch; a multi-tenant SaaS platform brought from zero through MVP in 45 days; Molo, an isiXhosa course, taken from first commit to the App Store and Google Play in five weeks; an award-winning AI coaching app built in-house. When a bug belongs upstream, I fix it at the source. I have merged code into Vite, Expo, OpenAI's Codex CLI, Kibana, Kepler.gl and Nitro.

Hardmax AS is registered in Oslo, and I currently work from Cape Town. Cape Town is on UTC+2 all year: the same time as Oslo in summer and one hour ahead in winter, so working days line up with Norwegian and European teams.
